Screenshots and Markdown MCP server for VS Code
Use ScreenshotOne with an MCP-capable agent in VS Code, such as GitHub Copilot. You need a ScreenshotOne account.
Add the remote server
Section titled “Add the remote server”Create or merge the following into .vscode/mcp.json:
{ "servers": { "screenshotone": { "type": "http", "url": "https://mcp.screenshotone.com" } }}For a personal configuration, run MCP: Open User Configuration from the Command Palette and add the same entry there. VS Code uses a top-level servers key in this file.
Use the inline Start action in mcp.json, or MCP: List Servers, to start ScreenshotOne. Follow the browser sign-in when VS Code requests authorization, then approve the ScreenshotOne connection. See VS Code’s MCP guide.
Take your first screenshot
Section titled “Take your first screenshot”Open an agent conversation and enable ScreenshotOne under Configure Tools. Send:
Use ScreenshotOne's render-website-screenshot tool to capturehttps://example.com with full_page=true. Download the returned imageinto this workspace as example-screenshot.jpg.The MCP result contains a temporary url. Check the downloaded file in your workspace; receiving the URL alone has not saved the image. Download it within four hours.
If tools are missing
Section titled “If tools are missing”Check workspace trust, your organization’s MCP policy, and the conversation’s tool selection. Run MCP: List Servers, select ScreenshotOne, and choose Show Output to inspect an error. Reconnect if OAuth authorization is required.
